Vision Pharma, introduces TRIS(HYDROXYMETHYL)NITROMETHANE (THNM) in India This is oilfield biocide in that provides microbial control for weeks to months in the extreme downhole environment with high salinity, pH and temperature. THNM is a broad spectrum microbiocide that controls the growth of common oilfield bacteria, including Sulfate Reducing Bacteria, Acid Producing Bacteria , and helps prevent the biogenic formation of H2S (souring), biofouling, and microbially influenced corrosion of assets. “This is a welcome option as operators are looking to improve their HS&E profile and the productivity of operations, as well as reduce overall cost associated with downtime and the treatment of soured hydrocarbons.In combination with fast acting biocides like Glutaraldehyde or DBNPA, THNM provides completion and production engineers with an integrated microbial control solution which prepares the water topside, decontaminates the well, and protects the hydrocarbons in the reservoir. The benefits of using a fast acting biocide and a preservative like THNM not only provides a more effective biocide program, but it can also reduce the overall amount of biocide needed.
Tris (hydroxyl methyl)nitro methane micro biocide products are colourless to yellow aqueous solutions that are nominally 50% active. The active is also available as a 98% solid. Tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane products are used as antimicrobial agents to control bacteria and slimes in industrial water treatment and oil and gas treatment applications and to formulate other biocide or preservative products. These products may cause slight temporary eye irritation. Brief skin contact is essentially none irritating; prolonged contact may cause slight skin irritation with local redness. These products may be harmful if swallowed. Prolonged excessive inhalation exposure may be harmful. Inhalation of dust or mist may cause irritation of upper respiratory tract (nose and throat). Aspiration into lungs may result in rapid absorption and injury to other body systems. These products contain components, formaldehyde, nitromethane, and tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane, which have been shown to cause cancer in humans and animals or to produce fatal effects in animals Tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane is moderately toxic to aquatic organisms on an acute basis. These products are biodegradable and unlikely to accumulate in the environment
These products are stable under recommended storage and normal use conditions. Avoid temperatures above 80°C (176°F). Toxic, flammable gases and heat may be released during decomposition. Avoid contact with amines, ammonia, bases, oxidizers, and high ph. tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane products is control of bacteria and slimes in industrial applications, typically at 50 to 1000 parts per million of the active ingredient.
Uses in the gas and oil industries include oil recovery drilling muds/packer fluids, secondary oil recovery injection waters, oilfield water systems, drilling muds, and recirculating water systems. Its uses in Antimicrobial products are distributed primarily for use in formulating other antimicrobial and preservative products.
